Zachary Johnson

Zachary Holt Johnson, 41, of Mancelona, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 12, 2026. He was born on September 26, 1984, in Decatur, Alabama, the son of Randy and Michelle (Deal) Johnson.

Zach graduated with honors from high school in Cape Coral, Florida. He began his professional life in Real Estate fields, working in Mortgage and Title Company’s and then obtaining his Real Estate license . In 2007, he and his mother Michelle opened Real Deal Realty and Property Management in Cape Coral, FL, which is still operational today. In 2011, Zach moved to Bellaire, MI and shortly thereafter took a job at Shanty Creek Resorts where he worked in Management with the Golf and Ski departments.

Zach enjoyed listening to music and attended many concerts at Interlochen over the years. One of his favorite types of music was 90’s rap. Zach was an extremely caring grandson and took care of his grandparents in any way he could. He enjoyed traveling when the opportunity presented itself; he visited Amsterdam, Costa Rica, and went on several cruises. Zach was quite the foodie as well – he was partial to Thai food, but he was always open to new tastes. He also liked watching movies, golfing, and discussing politics.

He will be deeply missed by those closest to him.

Zach is survived by his mother, Michelle Deal of Cape Coral, FL; his brother, Eli (Kelly) Johnson of Ft. Myers, FL; his Pops, Duane Deal; his uncles, Geety Hopper and D.J. Deal; and his closest friends, Jennifer Husbands and Rob (Tania) Griffith; and several other cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Randy Johnson; his Mamaw and Papaw, Alton and Frances Johnson; his Nana, Marion Deal; and his aunt, Debbie Hopper.

A memorial gathering will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, 205 W. State St., Mancelona, MI 49659
