William "Mike" Ogden

William Michael "Mike" Ogden, 81, of Boyne City, Michigan, went to his heavenly home on October 13, 2026. Mike was born on October 29, 1944, in Wooster, Ohio.

On October 6, 1978, Mike married the love of his life, MaryAnn Ogden. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, friendship, and service to others.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife, MaryAnn; his children, Michele (Ronnie) Ervin, John (Valerie) Ogden, and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Applegate; his grandchildren, Lina (Dalton) Smith, Alexis Kush, Aaron (Melanie) Tompkins, Chloe Applegate, and Joshua Applegate; and his great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Caroline, Charlotte, and Olivia.

As a young man, Mike attended the College of Wooster and graduated in 1968. He then started a long career with the Mansfield City Schools in Mansfield Ohio. His career spans teaching, principalship, and educational leadership, with a strong presence in Ohio’s school system and professional associations in Ohio. He retired from Mansfield City School in 1996. Following retirement, he and MaryAnn moved to Boyne City, Michigan. He then continued his educational leadership for the Junior Achievement of Northern Michigan.

Mike had a passion for camping, traveling, skiing, football, and family genealogy. He especially treasured the time spent creating memories with his family and researching family history. He and MaryAnn volunteered at Good Neighbors Food Pantry and worshipped at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Charlevoix. His kindness, faith, and willingness to serve others touched many lives throughout the community.

Mike will be remembered for his loving heart, generous spirit, strong faith, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the family he cherished so deeply.
