William Robert Crowe

William Robert Crowe of Lake Charlevoix and Brighton, passed away peacefully on November 14th, 2024 at the age of 91. He was born December 20th, 1932 in Detroit, the son of Robert and Sadie (Cameron) Crowe. Bill served proudly in the United States Army, and on July 1st, 1961, he married Jan Crowe. Together they raised four children and enjoyed life to the fullest. Bill was a dedicated employee of Allstate Insurance for many years before eventually opening his own agency. His daughter Shirl joined him in the office and Bill was able to pass his legacy along upon retirement.

In 1965, Bill and Jan bought a small piece of land on Lake Charlevoix and built their log cabin, knowing one day they wanted to live 'Up North' forever. Their family and friends often came to visit the area Bill loved so much, making memories that would last a lifetime. His dream inspired many to find places of their own nearby.

Bill loved all the outdoors had to offer. He was always out mowing his yard or tending to his flowers and trees. He loved sailing, fishing, hunting, and golfing. At sunset, you could find Bill on his back porch enjoying a cigar and a glass of red wine.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by many. Surviving are his children Shirl (Gary) Gondek of East Jordan, Mike Crowe of Brighton, Craig (Jaimi) Crowe of Nokomis, FL, Carrie (John) Pence of DeWitt, Robin (Julianna) Alff of Houston, TX, grandchildren Nick, Ryan, Jesse, Andrea, Madison, Gavin, Drew (Victoria), Ryan, Jordan, Alex (Sam), Harrison, great grandchildren Sophia and Talia. He was preceded in death by his wife Jan in 1988 and sister Shirley Freel.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2025.  Memorial contributions can be given to the American Cancer Society or Advisacare Hospice.

Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign his online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
