William "Bill" Dohm

Celebrating a Life Well Lived

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of William Russell Dohm, age 80, of Charlevoix, Michigan, on April 16, 2026, as he reunited in heaven with his parents, Russell and Ada “Jean” (Bettis) Dohm.

Bill was born on July 1, 1945, in Bryan, Ohio. He moved with his family to Charlevoix, Michigan, in 1950 and graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1963. In 1973, he took over Rus-N-Us and the family farm from his parents, owning and operating Rus-N-Us until his retirement.

Bill was a hard worker who took pride in everything he did, and he passed that work ethic on to his children, teaching them to bring the same pride to their own work. Charismatic, loyal, charming, witty, and kind, he made friends wherever he went and always sent people on their way with a well-timed joke. He enjoyed hosting family and friends and was always fun to spend time with. A loving husband and father with a heart of gold, Bill loved his family fiercely and had a way of making each of them feel truly special. He also loved bonfires, working in the coop, time in Paradise, Michigan, dancing to Patsy Cline, and laughter.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jan; his children’s mother, Reta Shepard of East Jordan, Michigan; his children, William (Nadine) Dohm of Gurnee, Illinois; Kathryn (Gilbert) Noirot of Charlevoix, Michigan; Michael (Barbara Noirot) Dohm of Charlevoix, Michigan; Marcus (Cathy) Dohm of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Elizabeth (Brandon) Stevens of Charlevoix, Michigan; Benjamin Babb of Charlevoix, Michigan; and Jessica (Shay) Arnold of Charlevoix, Michigan; his grandchildren, Valerie, Kathryn (Brandon), Emma, Bryan (Samara), Forrest, Abigail, Michael (Molly), Sophia, Hershel, Isabel (Michael), Davis, Brinn, Thomas, Morgan, and Jacqueline; his great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Wyatt, and Charlotte; his siblings, Barbara Miller of Charlevoix, Michigan; and Jerry Dohm of Panama City, Florida; and many extended family members and an abundance of dear friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Garrett Miller; and his nephew, Matthew Miller.

He is now at peace in the arms of his Savior. His legacy lives on, and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

A celebration of his life will take place at later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
