Wilbur E. “Ding” Wells, 85, of Charlevoix, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan. He was born November 16, 1930, to Wilbur and Beatrice (Samuels) Wells. He served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War.
Ding worked for Medusa Portland Cement Company in Charlevoix and retired after twenty-five years.
He was a hard working, unique individual.
Ding was a member of the American Legion Leslie T. Shapton Post #226 in Charlevoix.
He is survived by his children, Debbie (Jon) Peterson of Charlevoix, Richard (Brenda) Wells of Traverse City, Carla (Joe) DeSalvo, Scott Wells all of Rock Springs, Wyo.; grandchildren, Tonia, Elizabeth, Ricky, Brian, Eric, Nicki, Tara, Andrew, and Ivy; great-grandchildren, Ana, Isabel, Joshua, Oliver, Addison, Leo Logan, Brecklynn, Kellin, and Kamdyn; brothers, Donald (Laura) Wells of Charlevoix, Richard Wells of Ellsworth; sisters, Peggy (Bob) Morrow of California, Marilyn (Bill) Pardee of Charlevoix, Delores (Earl) Hart of Saginaw. Ding was preceded in death by his brother John.
Funeral will be 1 PM, Monday, May 9, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix where visitation will begin at noon. The Reverend David Behling will officiate. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix where military honors will be presented by the Charlevoix Area Veterans.
