Wanda Conway

July 3, 1941 — December 12, 2019

Wanda Conway

After a fifteen year battle with Alzheimer’s disease, Wanda Ruth Conway passed away peacefully on December 12, 2019.

Wanda was born on July 3, 1941 in Rapids City Michigan, to Harvey and Helen (Barber) Deater.  She married John Conway on March 1, 1958.  They showed their family and friends the meaning of true love, as they lived life together and were passionately devoted to each other throughout their entire lives.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her dear husband, and her brothers Ned and Jerry.  She is survived by her children:  Vicki Compton (Abby Wattenberg), Eric Conway (Janine), and Chris Conway (Rita).  Her nine grandchildren were the joy of her life:  Lisa Compton, Barry Compton (Lindsey), Jacob Conway (Tabrina), Michael Compton (Kelly), Rebecca Conway Dykstra (Scot), Mandee Conway Novak (Mike), Bree Conway Ziegler (Dan), Christa Conway Williams (Josh), and Dana Conway O’Bold (Brent).  She also has fourteen great-grandchildren, and counting!

Wanda is also survived by her sister, Donna Playford (Don), and her brother Tom Deater (Lisa).

Many will remember Wanda as the Antrim County Register of Deeds, which she held for over 20 years.  She was also known for her work with the Republican party, both in Antrim County and statewide.  However, to those who loved her most, she was best known for her cookies, her hugs, and her unconditional love.

Even though Alzheimer’s disease robbed Wanda of her memories these last few years, her family and friends are able to recall in detail all the ways she was an incredible wife, mother, and friend.  She will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or Grandvue Medical Care Facility, where Wanda was treated with care and respect, like a beloved family member.

Services to honor and remember Wanda will be held at the Antrim Church of Christ on Saturday, December 21.  Visitation will be at 1pm with the funeral following at 2pm.

Arrangements have been handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Please sign her online guestbook www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
