Vernal Walden

Vernal L. Walden,  85, of Alden, passed away on September 23, 2021 at Munson Medical Center.

Vern was born on March 16, 1936, in East Jordan, MI, the son of Alfred and Theresa (Hosler) Walden.

He was a "jack of all trades"  aka a "tinkerer" who  could fix anything.   He enjoyed taking on projects of all kinds and helping friends and family.

Vern enjoyed boating, bowling, playing cards and snowmobiling.  He also enjoyed watching westerns and was a NASCAR fan.

Surviving are 2 sons, Greg Walden of Bellaire, Tony (Kathy) Walden of Rapid City, step-children, Kristine Willson of Bellaire, Kimberly Willson of Lansing, Kathy Willson (Rusty) of Julian, NC, Kelly (Mike) Fant of Central Lake, and Ken (Tonya) Willson III of Troy.   Also surviving are grandchildren, Alex  and James Walden, Adrianna Palm, Jenna and Kenny Willson IV, Alyssa Gamble, Christopher and Nicklas Fant, great-granddaughter Amiyah Mebane and sister-in-law Janett Walden of East Jordan.

He was preceded in death by his wife Karleen "Sue" Walden, a son Christopher Walden, grandson Logan Fant, 2 sisters, 2 brothers and his parents.

A Celebration of Life and luncheon will be held Saturday, October 2nd at 12 Noon at the Bellaire ASI Coummunity Center.

Burial will be private in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are being handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
