Verna Truman

Verna Darlene Truman, 77, of Charlevoix passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 28, 2022.  She was born to Edna (White) Reich and Clifford Reich on September 23, 1944 in Petoskey, MI.  

She was raised on a farm near Sault Ste. Marie, MI.  She graduated from Sault Ste. Marie High School in 1962.  She worked many years as a nurse’s aide including War Memorial Hospital in the Soo, Little Traverse Hospital, and Lockwood MacDonald Hospital in Petoskey from 1965-1971 and 1978-1984.  She also worked at Alma College from 1988 to 1994.

In 1967, she married Gary K. Truman.  In 1993, she graduated with an Associates Degree in Business Management from Davenport College.  She loved her Lord Jesus Christ.  She loved her children and grandchildren and spending time with them.  She attended St. Mary’s and Bible Baptist Church in Charlevoix.  She lived Pine River Place for many years.  She enjoyed going places with friends such as the Petoskey Club.  She also enjoyed making afghans, reading, watching movies, watching TV, eating out, and travelling.

She is survived by two sons, Scott (Jennifer) Truman and Gary Truman; grandchildren, Jack and Katie, Jeremy, Joe, Todd, Kain, and Noah. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Norma Reich Kuhl and Olive Jean Reich; granddaughter, Zoa Truman; and niece, Shirley Almeida.

Verna was grateful for the help she received from various members of the churches, the Petoskey Club, and Pine River Place through the years.
