Tori Lynn Inglis (Alger) of Drummond Island formerly from Charlevoix, passed away August 30, 2023, at Pineview Cottages in Harbor Springs following a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Tori was born November 6, 1956, in Charlevoix, Michigan to Jim and Faye Alger. During her years at Charlevoix High School, Tori excelled in volleyball, basketball, cheerleading and track. Tori was the valedictorian of her class and was also awarded the Stewart Irish Coleman award, as the best female student athlete, given to a female for the first time that year. She was also crowned the 1974 Venetian queen. After her high school graduation in 1974, she attended Central Michigan University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in teaching in 1977, graduating summa cum laude. Shortly after, she returned to Charlevoix and taught mathematics at Charlevoix Middle School for almost 30 years.
Tori married Bill Inglis in 2005. Tori and Bill enjoyed downhill skiing, boating, their golden retrievers, and spending time on their boat.
Tori is survived by her husband, Bill Inglis of Drummond Island, Michigan; children, Sloan Fisher of Portland Oregon, Taylor (Amy) Fisher of Petoskey, Tanner (Shelby) Fisher of Ironton, and stepdaughter Suzanne Inglis (Bryan Lamblin) of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Jack, Teddy and Lucy; siblings, Robert (Cheryl) Alger of Boyne City, Michigan, Jodi (Tom) Bergmann of Charlevoix, and James (Carol) Alger Jr, of Charlevoix; along with many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Alger Sr. and Faye Alger.
Visitation will be held at the Mortensen Funeral Home in Charlevoix, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2023. Per Tori’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Michigan or the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Michigan Chapter.
