Timothy John Clegg

In Loving Memory of Tim Clegg

On May 3, 2026, Timothy (Tim) John Clegg, DDS, passed away in his Charlevoix, MI home at age 74, with his wife, family and faithful dog, Riley, close at his side.

Born May 28,1951 in Lansing, Mi, he was the 3rd son of Earle and Margaret (Mahan) Clegg.
He graduated from Lansing Sexton High School in 1969 and continued his education at Michigan State University before attending the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry where he specialized in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In the early 1980's he opened his first Oral Surgery practice in Romeo, MI. He went on to establish additional offices and partnerships throughout Macomb County until retiring in 2008.

In 1991, Tim and Kathleen (Kathy) Ratchford were married, beginning their 35-year story together, a journey that eventually brought them from Romeo to the quiet beauty of Charlevoix in 2011.

Tim was an avid reader, as evidenced by a basement "overloaded" with his book collections.
That same relaxed energy carried over into a love for the tropical life; he enjoyed the music of Jimmy Buffett, and was often seen wearing a Caribbean shirt and blending Margaritas for family and friends who came to visit he also made a pretty mean Spanish Coffee, which he perfected over the years). Cooking was a great passion of Tim's. He often joked, saying that he
"experimented on his family and friends with new recipes." In truth, gathering his family, friends, colleagues, and co-workers together for a meal and drinks was Tim's way of showing his love for them. Baking homemade bread was one of his specialties. The great outdoors also called Tim. He was a hunter; trudging the wilderness of Michigan, Montana, and Quebec. Golf— we can't forget golf. Chasing that little white ball around a golf course gave Tim a great challenge, but also fun and relaxation. He loved going to and organizing golf outings. In 2003, he actually accomplished the coveted "hole-in-one."

But for all the stories and adventures that brought great joy, Tim also cherished the quiet time.
Walking beaches and wooded trails, tending to his herb garden, feeding hummingbirds, and daily devotional readings always brought peace, calm, and a smile to Tim.

His Christian faith was strong and his life was guided by an unshakable belief in John 3:16, ("For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life").

Tim is survived by his wife, Kathy; brother Tom Clegg; sister-in-law Betty Clegg; nephews, Rob (Jennifer Allswede,) Clegg; Bradlee (Margaret) Clegg, and Daniel (Melissa) Clegg; and nieces, Christine (Chad) Dailey; Carrie Paulen and Andy Paulen. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Earle and Margaret Clegg and his brother, Harold Clegg.

In lieu of flowers, the family humbly asks that any donations be made to either: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Blood Cancer United (formally Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) or Tunnels to Towers.

Tim's family is beyond grateful for all the prayers, love and support shown Tim and them during Tim's illness and passing. May God Bless you all.
