Timothy Jay Buffman, 51, a lifelong resident of Central Lake, died peacefully, Friday, April 9, 2021 at home.
He was born April 18, 1969 in Petoskey, the son of Gary and Janice (Gibbard) Buffman and graduated in 1987 from Central Lake High School. He went on to Grand Valley State University for several years before coming home to work in the family business, Buffman and Sons Excavating.
Tim was a friend to all. He had an amazing voice and could often be found leading karaoke in his friend’s homes or at the local watering hole. He was an avid hunter and took several whitetail trips to Canada seeking the monster buck. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and the weekend tournaments. He also enjoyed playing poker and spending time with his best buddies in Rocket’s Window Bar.
Surviving are his sons Trevor Buffman and Trenton Potter, father Gary Buffman, brother Luke (Jen) Buffman, paternal grandmother Marcella Buffman, nephew Dylan (Lauren) Buffman, niece Delaney Buffman, aunts and uncles Nancy Sulz, Michael Gibbard, Vic (Gloria) Bloom, Eugene (Cindy) Bloom, Diane (Pete Brown) Dawson, Danny Buffman, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Janice Buffman in 2011, his paternal grandfather Howard Buffman, and maternal grandparents Lynn and Suzanne Gibbard.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 17th at 11 a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Gary Bekkering officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, April 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service, all at the funeral home.
