Thomas M. Shanahan

Thomas M. Shanahan, 41 of Gaylord and formerly of Mancelona, passed away on May 29, 2025.

Tom was born on July 26, 1983, in Oak Lawn, IL, the son of Michael “Mick” and Joan (Kennedy) Shanahan.

He was a Journeyman electrician by trade and worked for various companies around northern Michigan. He enjoyed all sports, especially football and was an avid Detroit Lions fan. Besides following sports, he enjoyed cooking, coloring, ice fishing and camping.

On September 2, 2007 in Grawn, MI, he married Amber L. Lewicki who survives.

Also surviving are 2 sons, Drew and Cole Shanahan at home, his parents, Mick and Joan Shanahan of Mancelona, a sister Maggie (Josh) Menkes of Gaylord, sister-in-law Angie (Chad) Karsten of Grand Rapids, brothers-in-law Gerry (Heidi) Lewicki of Mancelona, Greg Lewicki of KY,and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Gerald and Josephine Shanahan, maternal grandparents Patrick and Clara Kennedy, his in-laws Gerald “Wick” and Janie Lewicki, uncle Bryan Kennedy and aunt Patricia Kirka.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes and again Friday, June 6th beginning at 10 a.m.  

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 6th at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home with Mark McCool Jr officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona Township.
