Theodore Edward Browe Jr., 92, was born in Central Lake, Michigan on August 13, 1933. He entered heaven on October 16, 2025. He fought a good fight against cancer for more than 15 years.
Theodore (or Ted as he was called by most) graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1952. He was offered two sports scholarships in both boxing and football. He decided to join the United States Air Force. During his years in the Air Force he lived in Georgia, New York, Mississippi, Alaska, (Tin City), North Carolina, Japan, California and Australia.
When in Georgia, he met his future wife, Mary Ellen Whitlow. They married, traveled the world and had seven children. After 20 years of service in the Air Force, he returned home to Charlevoix, Michigan. Ted then was an electrician and owned Browe Electric for many years. He also drove school buses and taught school. He was active in the Lions Club and was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Ted enjoyed traveling, wood working, jigsaw puzzles and reading after his second retirement. He was always eager to help others.
Ted was careful with his money, but he was also very generous. He had a great love for all his family.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen (Whitlow) Browe, his parents, Theodore Edward Browe Sr., and Ruth (Wilson) Brave; his siblings, Bonnie Rollenhagen, Betty White, Wilfred Browe, James Browe, Ruth Anne Marley and Thomas Browe.
Surviving are his children; Debra (Terry) Ellis, Ronald (Lauri) Browe, William (Cathy) Browe, Norman (Jane) Browe, Teresa Breaux, Janine (Gary) Hart, as well as Mary (Terry) Coveyou. He has 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; his siblings, Ray Browe, Mary Corp and Becky Lester.
Also surviving are a wife Carol Robinson and more nieces and nephews than we can count.
The family would like to thank everyone involved in his care from Compassus Hospice of Gaylord, especially his nurse Cheryl Davis.
