Susanne (San) Tschirhart died peacefully at home on February 28, 2024, with her family by her side. San was born in Pontiac, MI to Willard and Rosemary Sawyer and grew up in Berkley. She met the love of her life,Tom, in a bar and married only 9 months later.
Their 50 years together were full of adventure: a cross country move to California on a whim after traveling the country in a camper van. After returning to the Detroit area, they eventually moved to Central Lake after San encouraged Tom to apply for a job she found in the classifieds. Raising a family here was the best decision of their lives.
San became involved in the community through being the village clerk for years and the Chamber of Commerce. She was a founding member of the school’s PTA, led a summer fun program, and was a leader or assistant coach for many of her kids’ activities. Over the years, she became “everyone’s mom,” doling out advice at her bedside to all of her kids’ friends who came in and out of the house and also at the counter, as a former owner, of Chain-O-Lakes Video. If she knew anyone was in a bind, she wouldn’t hesitate to lend a hand.
She was a long time home sewer for Second Chance, Armor Express, and most recently United Shield.
She is survived by Tom and her kids Stefanie (Paul) Tschirhart-Baldwin, Sharon (Mike) Fleming, and Shane Tschirhart (Lexi Hill); her grandkids Morgan, Jayden, Olivia, Jack, Chris and Katelyn; her grand dogs Frank, Copper, Boots, Bryce, Murphy, and Lucy; grandcat Lippa; and also her three sisters and their children.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, Len Jones.
