Sheila Marie Paradis, 78 of Kewadin, passed away peacefully at her home on August 19. Sheila was born March 29, 1948, in Lansing to Kenneth and Ruby (French) Crowe.
Above all, Sheila was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother who took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—often traveling several hundred miles in a single day to attend their events. Those trips brought her great happiness. She worked as a school bus driver for Elk Rapids Schools, retiring after nearly 20 years of service. She was a kind and generous friend who took pleasure in cooking and baking for her family and was a true partner to her husband Michael Paradis in their NikCol Farms business. Sheila and Mike enjoyed a special and loving marriage for over 30 years. Sheila looked forward to her travels with Mike and spent many winters at their Florida home, where they cheered on the Tigers, and she relaxed with a good book, knitted, and enjoyed time with dear friends. As a young girl, Sheila was an expert roller skater and until just a few years ago could still do a Shoot the Duck! She generously volunteered her time at Kewadin Community Church, Amvets Post 114, and Acme Christian Thrift Store and Food Pantry.
On January 8, 1994, Sheila married Michael, who survives. She is also survived by her children Laurie (Michael) Peet and Daniel Thompson, stepchildren Nichole (Dan) Pangburn and Collette (Tom) Champagne; her grandchildren Sheila (Evan) Hartley, Tim (Marissa) Curtis, Ann (Andrew) Curtis, Dalton (Catherine) Peet, Jenna (Evan) Forgette, Mitchell Stachnik, Claire Stachnik, Nate Pangburn, and Star Pangburn. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Ellanore, Penny, Lucy, Bennett, Natalie, and Bennett Michael, brother-in-law Glenn (Sandra) Paradis; and sisters-in-law Donna Paradis and LuAnn (Steve) Langusch, and special family friend and business partner Jim (fiancé Jenny) Standerfer.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Wayne and Danny Crowe.
Visitation will take place at Kewadin Community Church beginning at 10 a.m., with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, August 29th.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kewadin Community Church, P.O. Box 277, Kewadin, MI 49648.
Arrangements are in the care of the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
