Scott Morse Muma

Born in Petoskey, Michigan on February 18, 1968, Scott Morse Muma of Ellsworth entered eternal rest on September 12, 2025.

Scott was the beloved son of Nancy Muma (Higbee) and Jessie Muma. At just 17 years old he met the love of his life, Celest and from that moment on, they shared a beautiful journey together. Their hearts were happiest along the shores of Lake Michigan, where they spent countless days with their dogs, searching for rocks and stones and soaking in the peace of the water.

Scott’s love for the outdoors was a gift he poured into the lives of his children. Whether it was hunting, fishing, gardening, or simply enjoying a picnic, he taught them to find joy in nature and togetherness. He cherished every moment spent cooking, grilling, playing corn hole, or passing down traditions like whitetail deer hunting and morel mushroom hunting. With his hands, he carved walking sticks; with his heart, he carved a lifetime of love and memories.

He was the greatest supporter of his wife, standing proudly by her side in her barrel racing career, and he was a devoted father to Kendra Broman, Jordan Muma, Ashley Muma and their spouses Tim and Tori. To his children, he will forever be remembered as fun-loving, caring, supportive, a little stubborn, but always family-first. As “Papa,” he poured his endless love into his grandchildren: Abigail, Kylieann, Braedon, Elijah, Ava, Hadley, Haven, and Hennley.

Scott’s easygoing spirit and quick humor made him a joy to be around. He had the rare gift of making people laugh, of lifting spirits with a joke or a smile, and of always being ready to help—even if it meant giving the shirt off his back.

Above all, Scott’s life was defined by love—for his family, his friends, and the simple joys of every day. His memory will live on in the laughter he inspired, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.

In his honor, two of his favorite songs—“Only God Knows Why” by Kid Rock and “Fred Bear” by Ted Nugent—will play on in the hearts of his family, carrying his spirit with every note.
