"Well done thou good and faithful servant enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.  "Matthew 25:21

He was a humble, kind, disciplined, loving, funny and faithful husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed life, especially gardening, fishing, tinkering, socializing and was a jack of all trades. He loved the Lord and served him faithfully.

After his time in service, Ross returned home and met the love of his life, Miriam Haesler and they were married on April 23, 1949.

While he was attending Wayne State University he felt the call to the ministry. They moved to Minneapolis where Ross completed his degree in Theology from Northwestern University. Ross became an assistant pastor at First Baptist Church of Hazel Park, Michigan, and they both actively engaged in serving the needs of the congregation while raising a family of five children. The family moved where he also served for eight years as pastor of the Evangelical Free Church of Pinckney. He then pastored at Trinity Bible Church of Stanton, serving for 13 years They retired to Charlevoix where they've lived for the past 38 years.

He enjoyed fellowship at the Community Reformed Church of Charlevoix, while preaching from time to time at various temporary vacancies in local churches and occasional Sunday services at Grandvue Medical Facility in East Jordan. He served for many years on the board of The Rainbow Shoppe, a charitable provider in Charlevoix.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Howard Winters, and sister Vivian and brother-in-law George Kane.

He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Miriam, his five children: Dianne VanGuilder (Dennis), Dawn Winters (Peter Grimm), Robin Winters (Carrie), Denise Danigelis (Steve) and Joel Winters (Janet).
