Roland LeRoy Ordway Jr.

Roland L. Ordway Jr “Rolly”., 65, of Alba, passed away on December 6, 2023.

He was born on July 13, 1958, in Owosso, MI, the youngest son of Roland Sr. and Gwen (Rusnell) Ordway. Growing up the youngest of 4 children, and living on a lake offered many hours of entertainment for him, his siblings, and neighborhood kids.

After graduating from Owosso high school in 1976 Rolly headed to northern Michigan, making Alba his home. Being employed in the oil fields through his late teens until his recent retirement from Riverside Energy. He worked in many capacities all the way from service rigs to lease operator.

Rolly enjoyed most of what Michigan outdoors had to offer. Spending countless hours with dear friends and family. In his younger years, hunting, snowmobiling, camping, and trail riding filled his weekends. In more recent years he could do without the cold and snow, which lead to motorcycling consuming many of his sunny warm days. If the sun was shining and the temp was good, he would hop on his Harley and hit the road. He enjoyed nothing more than riding his motorcycles and it was an added bonus when he could ride and raise money for good causes. He was a proud member of both the  Forgotten Eagles, helping to raise funds for veterans, and the Dark Knights who raise funds for St. Jude’s. Rolly was also a member of the Mancelona Moose Lodge 2254 as well as the Eagles in Gaylord.

Surviving are his parents, Gwen Ordway of Owosso, MI, Roland L. Ordway Sr. of Alba, a brother Steve (Sherrie) Ordway of TX, 2 sisters, Brenda (Randy) Krueger of Quinnesec, MI, Janis Ostipow (Pat Jordan) of Henderson, MI, his friends “Little Man” and Penny LaPratt. As well as many nieces, nephews, countless family, and close friends.

Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents Lyle and Maxine Rusnell, paternal grandparents Kenneth and Harriet Ordway and a brother-in-law Thomas Ostipow.

Visitation will take place on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
