Robert "Vic" Stilson

Robert Victor "Vic" Stilson, 85, of Charlevoix, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on July 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 9, 1940, in Vassar, Michigan, Vic was the son of Robert "Jack" and Marie Stilson.

Vic spent his career as a skilled millwright, first with Eaton Foundry and later with the Buick Division of General Motors, where he dedicated 36 years before retiring. Retirement did not slow him down. After moving to Charlevoix, he started a handyman business, earning a reputation throughout the community for his exceptional craftsmanship. Whether remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, building decks, replacing windows and doors, or tackling countless home improvement projects, Vic took great pride in helping others improve their homes.

Vic had a lifelong passion for woodworking, tile work, classic cars, yard work, and dogs. He especially enjoyed restoring and remodeling homes alongside his beloved wife, Donna. Together they transformed numerous homes in both Vassar and Charlevoix, sharing a love of creating beautiful spaces and taking pride in every project they completed.

Vic married the love of his life, Donna Jacobs, on June 22, 1963. Together they built a life grounded in love, hard work, and devotion to their family.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Shelby Kojaian and her husband, Ken, of Birmingham, Michigan; his son, Scott Stilson and his wife, Rebecca, of Shelby Township, Michigan; his sister, Charlotte Todd; his brother, Don Stilson; and his beloved grandchildren, Lauren Boynton (Scott) and Lindsey Johns (Nick), his step-grandchildren Claire Lembke (Grant) and Grant Kojaian and his great-grandson John Robert Boynton.

Vic was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Jacobs Stilson, and by his parents, Robert "Jack" and Marie Stilson.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Vic's life during an open house from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 211 Elm Street, Charlevoix, Michigan. Friends are welcome to stop by, share memories, and honor a life well lived. Floral arrangements may be sent directly to the family home.
