Raymond A Weisler

Raymond A. Weisler 87 of Ellsworth passed away November 5, 2025 at home with his family by his side. He was born June 11, 1938 in Bellaire, the son of Charles and Henrietta (Russell) Weisler.

Ray grew up in Norwood on a dairy farm, and in his youth hunted the Norwood swamps and fished Whiskey Creek. He helped with making the family’s famous Weisler’s Maple Syrup until the early 1970’s. Out of high school his first job was working at the East Jordan Canning Factory. Then he crossed a picket line to take a job at the East Jordan Iron Works where he was a dedicated employee for over 42 years before retiring.

He married in 1959, bought a little house in East Jordan across from the school and started his family of five children. In 1970 he bought his farm on Marion Center Rd in Charlevoix where he raised animals and vegetables to feed his large family. When not at work, he was busy with baling hay or in the woods cutting firewood. Ray was a Jack of all trades and could fix anything. After retirement he sold the farm and moved to Ellsworth where he resided until his death.

He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Free Methodist Church, where he met and married in 2004 his wife Marion who preceded him in death as well as his parents, his brother Martin Weisler, sister Rose Elliott, and son Charles R. Weisler.

Surviving is his sister Shirley Magsig of Gaylord, his children Rebecca (Beck) Peebles of Newaygo/Ellsworth, Debra Reinhardt of Kalkaska, Raymond Jr. (Tina) Weisler of Newaygo, Marietta (Michael) Sauer of Flint, step daughter Mary Lou Barnes of East Jordan, 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 7 ½ great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his faithful companion and grand dog Harvey.

A Celebration of Life will be held June 13, 2026 at the Ellsworth Pavilion in town beginning at Noon. More information will follow.
