Nancy Kollin, 87, of Bellaire, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was born 1935 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Richard and Margaret Mitchell.
Nancy graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn, and later graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree. Nancy loved working as a teacher for several years, before becoming a devoted and loving mom and raising her two children, Jay and Lisa, in Livonia. In 1990, she and her husband built their dream home on Lake Bellaire, which they have called home ever since. Nancy was an avid reader, enjoyed bowling, cooking, especially her famous pasties and bread. She loved crocheting and crafting gifts for her family, and making lap blankets for the baby pantry and Meadowbrook Seniors. She was also an active member of the Bellaire Lionesses and delivered Meals on Wheels with her husband for several years.
In 1960, in Dearborn, Nancy married the love of her life, Norbert Kollin, who survives. Also surviving are her two children, Jay (Mary Kay) Kollin of Bettendorf, IA, and Lisa (Matthew) Blank of Shelby Twp. MI; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Richard Mitchell Jr.
Nancy’s family has chosen to celebrate her life privately in the summer of 2023.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Commission on Aging with the request that contributions go to Meals on Wheels Truck Fund.
