Nancy Ellison

Nancy Ellison, 88, of Kewadin, Michigan, passed away on September 19, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Nancy was born May 12th, 1936, in Daytona Beach, Florida. Nancy met and married her high school sweetheart Richard Ellison in Big Rapids, Michigan. They were married on September 1st, 1956. Nancy and Richard welcomed the birth of their only child, daughter, Lorry (Ellison-Coats) in 1959. Later she welcomed a grandson, Tyler (Coats) in 1990. She will be dearly missed.

Nancy was a graduate of the University of Michigan with a BA degree in Journalism. She spent her life striving to be the best in her career. She was Public Relations Director at Munson Medical Center and Marketing Director at Charlevoix Hospital. She retired at age 62 to write a children's book. Nancy wrote and published "Sprucie, the Whispering Pine." She was active in her local community, serving on the Torch Lake Township Zoning Board for many years. Nancy was the recipient of many awards and accolades throughout her career.

Nancy and husband Richand became "snowbirds" and purchased a home in Florida near their daughter and grandson. This allowed her time in her retirement to make many wonderful memories, enjoying antiquing, reading, photography and spending time with her daughter and grandson.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents and a brother. She leaves behind a daughter, Lorry, grandson, Tyler, a brother, Lance (Knight) and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Nancy and her husband Richard, who recently passed away this past April, will be held October 19th from 2pm to 4pm at the Torch Lake Café in Eastport, MI. Couldn't think of a better way to celebrate my parents in their passing, who were inseparable in life than to have a dual "Celebration of Life." Please come and enjoy some appetizers, drinks and share a story you may have of "Two Lives Well Lived."
