Myron "Mike" Postmus

Myron (Mike) Postmus started his eternal life in Heaven on Sunday evening, December 31, 2023.  He left us peacefully and his children were at his bedside. 

Mike was born at his grandparents’ 1911 farm on March 18, 1924 to August and Lena Postmus of Ellsworth.  He married Natalie Whiteford of East Jordan on July 3, 1958.  They made the farm their home and with God’s blessing raised 5 children in Ellsworth. 

These five children and their families all survive him;  Paul and Irene Hizelberger of Ellsworth, Mark and Susan Postmus of McCormick, SC, Tony and Diana Postmus of Ellsworth, Anna Postmus of Charlevoix, and Jim and Katy Postmus of Ellsworth.

Grandchildren are Matthew and Natasha Hizelberger, Kyle and Katie Postmus, Robert and Michelle Grove, Rachel, Noah, Luke, and Seth Postmus, Shanna Chaney, Muriah Armstrong; and great grandchildren, Mason, Bryton, Jack, August, Oswin, Alexia, Vance, Aydyn, Jonathan, and Jolene.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife Natalie, and his two sisters Gertrude Heeres and Martha Heeres.  He is survived by younger sister Geraldine Rubingh. 

Mike worked for Michigan State Extension as a milk tester for many years and was very active in the forming the Banks Township Historical Society, and a long-time member of the Ellsworth Christian Reformed Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Banks Township Historical Society or Banks Township Fire and Rescue.

  Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ellsworth Christian Reformed Church with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.   Visitation will also  be on Friday from 4-7 p.m.  at the church.
