Morris "Ned" Walker

Morris Ned Walker, 84, of Charlevoix, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Boulder Park Terrace.  He was born on February 11, 1938, in Echo Township, MI, the son of Morris and Novella (Russell) Walker.

Shortly after graduating high school, Ned enlisted in the United States Army serving two years. Upon returning home to Northern Michigan, he worked in the auto parts manufacturing industry for many years.

Ned had three loves in his life; his beloved wife, Mary Jo, Cherry Pepsi, and chocolate.  Ned was a playful and mischievous prankster with his friends and family. Between that and his appreciation of loud rock and roll, he managed to never lose his spark for life.

He was a kind and gentle soul who would always help those in need.  He enjoyed fixing up old bicycles and sold them at low prices so children in need could afford them.  He also liked to create welding art to display at his home and cabin.

Ned is survived by his two children, Dave (Nancy) Walker of Charlevoix and Kim (Mitch) Olstrom of East Jordan; and three grandchildren, Tanner (Melina Brown) Olstrom, Destinne (Chris) Howard, and Lisa Harris.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jo Walker; his parents, Morris and Novella Walker; his brother, Allen Walker; his granddaughter, Savannah Kim Olstrom; and many aunts and uncles.

The family would like to send their gratitude to Ned’s extended family at Boulder Park Terrace.

Ned will be laid to rest next to Mary Jo at Dunsmore Cemetery.

Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Please sign his online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com/obituaries/morris-ned-walker
