Michael Stanley Thompson

Michael Stanley Thompson, 76, of Mancelona, MI passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022.

He was born to Stanley and Helen (Irish) Thompson, on February 24, 1946, in Belding, Michigan.

He worked for General Motors Lansing for 30 years.  Michael was a member of the Ionia and Mancelona Moose Lodge for many years, and a past member of the Elks.

Michael was a proud family man who enjoyed spending time together.  He enjoyed spending time outside fishing, hunting and camping.  Michael enjoyed bowling and golfing.  He loved to listen to his favorite music, which was 50’s style music.  Michael had a love of animals of all types but especially his dog.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, JoAnne Thompson; son, Bruce Underwood; and grandson, Ryder Underwood.

Michael is survived by his children, Mike Thompson of Muir, MI, Karrie (Justin) Kulhawick of Bath, OH, Bobby (Brianna) Underwood of Elmira, MI, Stacey Thompson of Hudsonville, MI and Jaime Girvin of Ionia, MI; sisters, Pamela Wyckoff, Melanee (David) Webert, and Kathy Davis; grandchildren, Sawyer, Chase, Nick, Hannah, Justyn, Ashlee, Sydney, Jackson, Colton, Haven, Heather, Chantel, Billi Jo, Chet, and Nicholas, along with loving dog Honey.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mancelona Moose Lodge, PO Box 368, Mancelona, MI 49659 in memory of Michael.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Home.
