Michael Teuscher

The Lord called his servant, Reverend Michael Lee Teuscher, to his heavenly home with his family by his side on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at the age of 72.  The son of the late Reverend Richard and Esther (Kernstock) Teuscher was born June 18, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri.  Michael was baptized on July 8, 1951 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Maplewood, Missouri.  He was later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, North Dakota on April 11, 1965. On August 2, 1980 he married Elisabeth Graudin of Clayton, Missouri.

Reverend Teuscher attended Concordia College of Seward, Nebraska, and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri where he received a Master of Divinity.  His ministry began in 1980 at Immanuel Lutheran in Wakefield, Nebraska.  From 1982 to 1987 he served at St. Peter Newell, Iowa. He was then called to serve in Akron, Ohio at Hope Lutheran from 1987 to 1990.  His ministry continued in Ames, Iowa at St. Paul Lutheran from 1990 to 1998.  Reverend Teuscher then served in Charlevoix, Michigan at Bethany Lutheran from 1998 to 2010.   His formal ministry ended serving the congregations of St John’s Kilmanagh and St. Peter Bach, Michigan from 2010 to 2015.  After retirement he continued to serve various congregations throughout northern Michigan.  Reverend Teuscher was a Christ-centered minister always pointing to Jesus.  “Look to the Cross,” he would say.

Mike had a great love of sports.  Baseball was his passion as a young man. He played Legion, High School, College, and Semi-Professional baseball and coached various levels of baseball over the years. Mike loved walleye fishing and enjoyed sharing that love with his wife, children, and grandchildren.  In his retirement he loved studying God’s word in Hebrew and Greek.  He also spent his time preparing his fishing supplies, and watching the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and Nebraska Cornhuskers. Mike’s most cherished time was spent with his family.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Elisabeth; his four children, Jeremiah (LeAnna) Teuscher, Nathanael (Alexis) Teuscher, Jacob (Michelle) Teuscher, and Matthew Teuscher; 7 grandchildren, Huxley, Gemma, Benjamin, Sebastian, Athena, Atticus, and Elisabeth; 3 brothers, Reverend Timothy (Paula) Teuscher, Steven (Diane) Teuscher, and Jonathan (Terri) Teuscher; 1 sister, Debra Salinas; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A special thank you to the entire staff at Charlevoix Hospital for providing Mike with the care and comfort he needed in his last remaining days.  For those considering a memorial, a donation may be made to Jardon Eye Prosthetics in Southfield, Michigan https://www.jardoneye.com/ or Concordia Seminary St. Louis https://www.csl.edu/give/ .
