Michael Murden

Michael James Murden, 74, of Bellaire, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.   He was born on September 13, 1949, in Lansing, MI, the son of Dale and Esther (Lilly) Murden.

Mike graduated from Bellaire High School in 1968, and shortly thereafter, he moved to Lansing.  He worked for many years setting up office spaces and delivering furniture in the surrounding area.  He returned home to Bellaire in the late 90’s to care for his parents, and has called it home since.  Mike also worked at Shanty Creek Resorts for several years; mowing grass in the summer, and making snow in the winter, and most recently, he delivered the Antrim Review locally.

Mike very much enjoyed spending time outdoors.  He loved to ride his motorcycle on day trips taking in all the beauty of Northern Michigan.  He also took many camping trips through the years, and especially looked forward to the “Murden Brothers Campout” which took place after Labor Day for over twenty years.  His ability to use tarps for a variety of uses amazed all who witnessed it.  Mike was also a huge fan of music; mostly rock, but he was open to many genres.  He had a personal collection of records and CD’s that few could rival.

Mike is survived by his son, Jason (Shauna) Murden of Laingsburg, MI; his brother, Ronald (Debbie) Murden of Traverse City; his granddaughter, Madison; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Donald Murden.

Mike’s family will celebrate his life at a later date.
