Michael Charles Abel

Michael Charles Abel, 66, of Williamsburg, was called to his heavenly home, February 25, 2023.

Mike was born in Monroe, Michigan to Myron and Lorene Abel.

He graduated from Brother Rice high school and attended Ferris State University.  Eager for new adventures, he relocated to Texas and found his true calling.  Blessed with a vibrant personality, unmatched optimism, and sharp wit he began a long and successful career in high-end furniture sales and management. 

In 1993, he became the proudest father ever, as the light of his life was born, Angela.  After decades in Texas with Haverty’s furniture and seeing Angela through college, Mike returned to Michigan in 2017 to be closer to his parents and extended family.  Once home, he began working at VanDrie Furniture.

Mike was a true warrior who carved his own path.  He loved fiercely, and preserved through life’s toughest battles with unwavering faith and determination.  From yard work, to fishing and boating, the outdoors was his happy place, and family was his life.  His cheerful outlook and beaming smile are irreplaceable to all who knew and loved him.

Beloved father, of Angela Abel; dear son, of Myron and Lorene; dear brother, of Elizabeth (Kyle) Ziegler, Cynthia (Stephen) Morley, Matthew (Rochelle) Abel, and Christopher (Vickie) Abel, and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews; along with friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel and David, and nephew, Jordan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Elk Rapids, Michigan.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
