Matthew “Matt” Craig Charron, age 61, of Charlevoix, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
Matt was born on April 15, 1965, in Royal Oak, Michigan, the son of Bonnie (née Langolf) Hamden and the late Jan Kendrick Charron.
A natural athlete who also excelled academically, Matt graduated from Lahser High School, where he played on the basketball and golf teams. After high school, Matt attended Western Michigan University for a year, where he played on the golf team. A talented golfer, he was truly in his element on the course. This was a passion he shared with many in his family, especially his father and his beloved late grandfather, Ross Bailey.
Matt loved Northern Michigan, especially in the winter. He dreamed of one day moving to Hancock, Michigan, which gets even more snow than Charlevoix.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandparents, Evelyn and Ross Bailey; his paternal grandparents, Maurice and Janet Charron; his aunt Katherine Purdom; his uncles William Charron and George Charron; his stepmother, Patricia Charron; his stepfather, William Hamden; his stepbrother, Guy Jackson; his brother-in-law, John Rosenberg; and his niece Blythe's husband, Gordon Blaine Adams.
Matt is survived by his dear mother, Bonnie Hamden; his sisters, Heide Rosenberg, Carla (Alan) Braverman, and Heather Charron (Michael Burbo); his three nieces, Bonnie, Blythe, and Lucia; his great-nieces, Evelyn and Lillian; his great-nephews, Luke and Logan; and many cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, honoring Matt's love for dogs, especially Boston Terriers.
