Mary Ellen Morgridge

Mary Ellen Morgridge, 87, of Charlevoix, passed away on June 13, 2025. She was born on April 27, 1938, in Portland, MI, the daughter of William and Dorothy (Werner) Stump. She would go on to be a lifelong educator.

Mary Ellen attended St. Patrick's School in Portland before studying education at Michigan State University. She had a passion for teaching which led to a career in education. She taught at Boyne City Elementary school for 32 years, which she loved the challenges of educating the next generation. She is remembered by countless students and colleagues as a caring influence on her students.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 2021 and son. Dennis, in 2020. 

She is survived by her sons, David (Carrie), Jeff (Lenore), Jim, one daughter-in-law, Robin, 8 grandchildren, Emily, Shelby, Ben, Emmet, Quincy, Robby, Alex and Doug and one great grandchild Lucy.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 18, at 11am, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation will take place from 10:30 until the time of Mass. Mass will be followed by a graveside service at St Mary's Cemetery. A luncheon will follow.
