Mary Lou Kalisch Holmes

Mary Lou Holmes, 91 of Alpena, passed away Wednesday January 25, 2023 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. Mary Lou was born to the late Gustav and Mary (Schultz) Kalisch on November 29, 1931. Ms. Holmes was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her daughter Susan (Francis “Brownie”) Flanders of Charlevoix, her son Stuart Wilson (partner, Deborah Bumbalough) of Midland, Michigan, her sister Mildred LaDouce of Bay City, five grandchildren, Kelli (Dr. Kyle) Anderson, Nathan (Laura) Wilson, Brandon (Kara) Wilson, Lauren Wilson, Samantha (Ken) Bosah, and one great grandchild, Elyse Anderson.

Preceding her in death were her sisters and brothers. Ruth Rosebeck, Emma Shalla, Flora Corl, Helen Tessmer, Doris DeCelle, Adolph Kalisch, and William Kalisch.

Ms. Holmes enjoyed gardening, all types of flowers and visiting casinos with friends. She was a Christian and lead by examples of honesty, hard work and determination. She died with dignity and on her own terms. She will truly be missed. Cremation arrangements have been handled by Mortensen Funeral Home of Charlevoix.

A private family service will take place on February 3 at Christ Episcopal Church, Charlevoix.
