Marvin Lee Roskamp

Marvin L. Roskamp passed away April 11, 2024, five days short of his 91st birthday. He was born in Coopersville to Edward and Minnie (Terpstra) Roskamp.

He attended and graduated from Coopersville Public School. He joined the Air Force at 18 and served in the Korean War. Upon discharge he came back to Coopersville and met his future bride, Patricia (Bulliss). They shared a rich life for 66 years. There were three children: Cindy (Kurtis Busman), Amy (Doug DeJong), and Mark (Kelly Parkes). He started and owned Roskamp Oil Company for 25 years. The family lived in Coopersville until 1980. During those years he was very active in the community, serving on the school board, in Rotary Club, the Lion’s Club, and C’ville Swim Club. He was a deacon at Church of the Savior.

Later he and Pat moved to northern Michigan where he pursued his passions of hunting, fishing, and golf. He was General Manager of A-Ga-Ming Golf Course for 18 years. Then they moved to Florida where he was again very involved in golf. He made many new friends and took up woodworking, making fine furniture pieces for their home and his family.

About four years ago he and Pat made the move back to Ellsworth to be closer to family and continue with the projects he loved to do.

He is survived by Pat and his children as well as his adored grandkids: Alex (Emily), Stephanie, and Polly Busman, Trevor (Amanda), Jessica, and Shelby (Bradley) DeJong, and Cody (Jillian) and Wyatt Roskamp. He loved to spend time with his great grandchildren – Gunnar, Lexi, Audi, Reagan, BreeAnne, Luke, Tommy, Dakota, Sawyer, and Walker.

He was preceded in death by both parents, brother Bob, and sister Marilyn. He is survived by sister Janice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Marv with a contribution to Belltower Reformed Church, (8033 Church Rd, Ellsworth, MI 49729) or Hospice of Northwest Michigan.
