Martha Mary Dunning

Martha Dunning, 88, of Mancelona, passed away on September 25, 2023 at Kalkaska Memorial Assisted Living under Promedica Hospice Care. She was born on February 3, 1935 in Flint, the daughter of Wallace and Winifred (Smith) Isbell.

Martha spent her childhood days in Flint, MI. While in high school, she would meet the love of her life, Eugene. She would go on to graduate high school in Flint, in 1953. On July 18, 1953, the two high school sweet hearts joined hands in marriage and would go on to have two children together. In her working days, Martha spent many years at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital where she kept medical records. In 1990, she retired from the hospital. Upon retirement, Martha and Eugene moved up north to Mancelona to be closer to their oldest daughter and two grandsons. Martha was known for her sense of humor and had a great love for cats, birds, and flowers. In her free time, she enjoyed taking trips to the casino, watching the Tigers play, and spending time with her family.

Surviving her in death are two children, Pamela (Rod) Vesey of Mancelona, Martha (Dennis) Bricker of Bay City, 2 sister-in-law's Dorothy Isbell, Bonnie Dunning, five grandchildren, Ryan, Debbie, Eric, Keith, and DJ, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death is her loving husband, Eugene, her parents, 3 brothers, Wally, Doug and Hugh.

Visitation will take place at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes on Saturday, September 30, from 11am to 1pm. A Memorial Service will be held immediately following visitation at 1pm with Pastor Black officiating.
