Mark Louis, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy rooted in love, family, and a deep appreciation for life’s simplest and most meaningful moments.
He was known for his warm and welcoming spirit, bringing people together for cherished family gatherings, Christmases, weddings and summer barbecues. His home was a place of laughter, connection, and comfort—where memories were made and traditions were carried on year after year.
He found joy in the outdoors—fishing, hunting, maintaining his pond and tending to his yard and garden with care. He appreciated the vibrant beauty of flowers, wildlife, and the changing seasons, and he shared that appreciation with those around him. He also enjoyed many talented years playing in pool league and took great joy in his time spent in his golf league, where friendships and good times were always part of the game.
Mark also loved to dance. He was the kind of man who would never let a lady sit on the sidelines—he made sure everyone felt included, comfortable, and part of the moment. He had a natural rhythm and charm on the dance floor, a gift he shared freely. If you were ever lucky enough to share a dance with him, it was something you didn’t forget.
After leaving Detroit, he followed his dream of a life surrounded by nature and settled in Lakes of the North. There, he spent his remaining years working and embracing the life he had envisioned—close to the land, the golf course, and the peaceful rhythm of the outdoors he loved so much.
He was, perhaps best known for his laughter—deep, contagious, and unmistakable. It was the kind you could hear before you even walked into a room, the kind that wrapped around you, and carried you in. His laughter was a welcome in itself, a sound that filled spaces and brought people together in a way few things can.
His love extends far beyond his immediate family, carrying forward through generations. It lives on in the traditions he created, the values he instilled, and the memories that will continue to be shared for years to come. His presence leaves a quiet ache in the hearts of many, but also a lasting warmth that will never fade.
The family encourages honoring his memory by spending time with loved ones, enjoying the outdoors, and finding peace in the simple beauty of everyday life—perhaps even pausing to share a laugh, the kind that carries a little farther, lingers a little longer, and reminds us of him.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Amber (Bill) Stephenson and his grandsons Austin and Will all of Gainsville, FL, girlfriend Paula Morgan, siblings Mary Lou (Bob) Lisuk of Gaylord, MI, Monica (Patrick) O'Brien of Sterling Heights, MI, Paul J. Louis Jr of Warren, MI, Marcella Louis of Sterling Heights, MI, Maureen (Gary) Sack of Warren, MI, Martin (Lori) Louis of Holly, MI, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Louis, parents Paul and Mary Lou (Feld) Louis.
