Margie Meggison

Margie Roena Meggison, 87, of Central Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey. She was born on December 11, 1933, in Rutherfordton, N.C., the daughter of Edgar and Lillie (Crawford) Conner.

Margie was a social butterfly, who loved her family and friends more than anything, and was very family oriented. Margie enjoyed birdwatching, puzzles, and traveling south to North Carolina in the winters with her husband Bob. While growing up, she loved helping on the farm, and kept her southern roots even after being transplanted to Michigan. Attending and being a part of church was also very important to Margie.

On December 31st, 1952, Margie and Bob were married in Portsmouth, Virginia, and were married for 68 loving years.

She is survived by her husband Bob, 2 daughters; Teresa VanTine of Central Lake, MI, Joanie O’Brien of Charlotte, MI, her brother, Clifford Conner of Rutherfordton North Carolina, 6 grandchildren; Levi VanTine of Seattle, WA, Valerie VanTine of Charleston, SC, Joseph O’Brien and Jessica O’Brien both of Charlotte, MI, Tina Hite and Crystal Hite both of Central Lake, 1 great-granddaughter; Aubree O’Brien, and many nieces and nephews.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters; Cheryl Hite and Patricia Robinson, brothers JC and Charles, and sisters Ellie, Eva, and Nellie.

Funeral Services will take place Friday, December 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Community Church, with Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Service. Pastor James Hagler will officiate. Interment will follow at Southern Cemetery.
