Marcia Trimper

Marcia L. Trimper, 89, of Charlevoix MI, peacefully passed away on October 23 , 2026 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility. She was born on June 3, 1937 in Toledo, OH. She was the daughter of Glenn and Florence (Pearl) Britton .

Marcia grew up in Trenton, Michigan with her parents and brother Robert (Bob). She was an outgoing student with interests in cheerleading and public service throughout high school.

Upon graduating from Trenton High School, she attended Cleary College. After college, Marcia took a job at McLouth Steel’s Trenton plant. This was not only her first job but also the place she met her future husband, Donald Trimper.

Marcia and Don were married on August 23, 1958. They moved to Chicago, IL where Don attended medical school pursuing his career. They soon began to start a family. Marcia became a mother, homemaker and anchor of the family. She embraced and cherished this role, which she remained at for over 60 years.

The family moved to Grosse Isle, Michigan in the early 1960’s. Marcia was busy raising five children while Don worked long hours as a new doctor. Marcia often shared memories of wonderful neighbors and fun parties.

In 1976, the family moved to Charlevoix, Michigan. With school age children, Marcia and Don were able to embrace Charlevoix and its community and settle in. Marcia loved Charlevoix and everything about it. It brought her great joy and pride. She volunteered at the school and was head cheerleading coach for many years at Charlevoix High School.

After the kids were grown, Marcia followed a lifelong passion for antiques and art and opened her own shop, Stonehedge Gardens. Marcia and Don built a house on the property and spent much of their golden years creating and caring for their gardens and shop. This became a special and beautiful gathering spot for family, friends, and many visitors. Marcia was an avid reader and curious about new topics and learning. She could often be found on the porch or at the shop quietly reading a book.

Marcia was a woman of faith. She was an active member of the local church in whichever community she happened to reside throughout her life. In her later years, she was an active and proud member of the Charlevoix Community Reformed Church.

No matter where Marcia was; the church, the school, the shop, or just walking through town, she made an incredible impression on everyone she met. Marcia was a person who loved life and people in it. She had a warm, outgoing personality and a gift for making everyone feel welcome. She could talk to anyone and was always genuinely interested in what they had to say. Marcia embraced life with enthusiasm and had a special gift for bringing people together. Life wasn’t always easy and the family faced hardship with the loss of grandchildren and Don’s health crisis. Marcia always kept a positive outlook and modeled optimism for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Marcia is survived by her five children, Donald Trimper Jr. of Charlevoix, MI, Jennifer Trimper of Fort Worth, TX, Cindy (Carl) Blanchard of Guilderland, NY, Jeff (Jane) Trimper of Stanton, MI, and Mark (Ellen) Trimper of Ellsworth, MI; and grandchildren, Sam Trimper, Morgan Blanchard, Hunter (Lily) Jenson, Chloe Jenson and Lauren Jenson.

Marcia was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Donald Trimper; her parents, Glenn and Florence Britton, brother Bob Britton, granddaughter Maddie Trimper, and grandson Max Trimper

During the last 7 years, Marcia was supported by many compassionate professionals at Grandvue Medical Care Facility. We are grateful for all they did and for treating her with love and respect.
