Lyle N. McFarren

Lyle N. McFarren, 97, of Mancelona, passed away on May 14, 2026.

He was born on June 8, 1928, in Traverse City, the son of John and Florence (Hubbel) McFarren.

For many years he delivered milk, then went on to sell Aflac Insurance until his retirement. He was a longtime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mancelona, and was known for his “Sunday drives” taking his children to Traverse City to spend time with his extended family.

Surviving are 3 children, Denise McFarren (Brent Smith) of Mancelona, Patrick McFarren of Mancelona, Thomas (Laura) McFarren of Bellaire, 3 grandchildren, Mallory McFarren (Brian Miara) of Chicago, IL, Jonathan Smith of Mancelona, Jacob Smith of Mancelona, and 2 great-grandchildren, Farren and Filippa Miara both of Chicago, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria McFarren, 3 sisters, Leatha McFarren, Nellie Chase, Marcella Plucker, a step-brother Eldon Way as well as his parents.

Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mancelona. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 12:45 p.m, with a Rosary beginning at 12:45 p.m. just prior to mass.

Burial will take place at a later date in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Mancelona.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mancelona Public Schools, Athletic Department, 112 St Johns Ave, Mancelona 49659.
