Lorraine Virginia Arlt, 92, of Charlevoix, formerly of Saginaw, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the American House in Charlevoix. She was born on April 5, 1933, in Saginaw, MI, the daughter of Gerald and Elizabeth (Pribel) Sak.
On July 27, 1963, she married John “Sonny” Arlt in Saginaw. Lorraine worked for GM for fifteen years before settling into the role of a homemaker to raise her two sons. After they were grown, she enjoyed fifteen years working in retail at TJ Max until retiring in 1996. She and Sonny enjoyed spending as much time as they could at their cottage at Point Lookout Michigan over the years.
Lorraine mostly kept to herself, and liked to stay home and watch soaps during the day, especially General Hospital. However, she also spent much time golfing, playing tennis, and was a Saginaw City bowling Instructor for many years. She also enjoyed playing euchre and taking trips to the casino. She was a member of St, John’s Lutheran Church in Saginaw for many years.
Lorraine is survived by her two sons, John (Michelle) Arlt of Grand Rapids and Eric (Lia) Arlt of Charlevoix; three grandsons, Eric Arlt Jr., John (Hailey) Arlt Jr, and Beau (Rebecca) Arlt; and a brother, Jerry Sak.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John “Sonny” Arlt; her parents, Gerald and Elizabeth Sak; four sisters, Lil, Irene, Betsy, Martha; and her brother, Chuck Sak.
