Loren Musilek

Loren Musilek of Charlevoix, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 31, 2026.

Loren was born on December 26, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, to Ruth and Francis Musilek. He attended Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Michigan, where he served as class president. He continued his education at Albion College, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics and serving as president of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He later earned a master’s degree in counseling from Michigan State University.

Loren proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era.

On May 12, 1973, Loren married Paula Jean Lukowski, affectionately known as “Belle,” in Garden City, Michigan. This spring, they celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Loren’s academic achievements were followed by a successful 20-year career at the helm of Future Pak Ltd., a pharmaceutical packaging company in Farmington Hills, Michigan. In 1985, Loren and his family moved to Brighton, Michigan. After transitioning Future Pak to new ownership in 1997, the Musileks made Charlevoix their year-round home, having spent many summers there over the years. They quickly became deeply connected to the Charlevoix community and the Charlevoix Country Club, which held a special place in Loren’s heart.

Loren’s love of the Country Club, combined with his passion for purposeful work and professional relationships, led him to a second career in real estate. He began with Coldwell Banker and continued to build his career by earning his broker’s license and later working with Vacation Properties Network and Berkshire Hathaway. In 2000, he expanded his involvement in the Charlevoix community through the Enclave condominium development at the Charlevoix Country Club and played a lead role in hosting a Senior/Amateur PGA event at the club.

Loren lived a life grounded in loyalty, commitment, purpose, and devotion to his family. He enjoyed traveling, boating, reading, duck hunting, and sharing memorable dining experiences with family and friends.

While his interests were many, Loren’s greatest joy was his family. He was the anchor of family vacations, holidays, celebrations, and milestones, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Francis Musilek, and his sisters, Glorita and Annette.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Paula “Belle” Musilek; daughters, Jean Musilek (Mike Costa) and Julie Joles (Jason Joles); grandsons, Camden Musilek and Spencer Joles (Ellie Joles); and granddaughters, River Pease, Mailie Witthoeft, Harper Witthoeft, and Kylie Joles.

The family invites those who knew and loved Loren to join them for a celebration of his life from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Shanahan's Pub at the Charlevoix Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Camp Daggett, 03001 Church Road, Petoskey, MI 49770 or the Charlevoix Area Community Pool, 11905 U.S. 31, Charlevoix, MI 49720, in Loren’s memory.
