Linda Brown

Linda Lou Brown, 81, of Mancelona, passed away on Friday September 11, 2026, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was born on February 9, 1945, in Charlotte, MI.

Linda graduated from Charlotte High School in 1963, and she went on to attend Lansing Community College. She worked at Chrysler for several years before beginning a career in banking as a teller at Ionia County National Bank, eventually becoming the head teller. Later in life, she decided it was time for another career change; so, she went back to school and spent the rest of her working life as a pharmaceutical technician at Meijer in Ionia.

On August 18, 1977, she married the love of her life, William Brown, in Ionia. The pair purchased 40 acres in Mancelona over 30 years ago and spent as much time visiting as they could. They eventually decided to build a log home and made the move up north permanently in 2017. They enjoyed countless hours sitting together on their deck watching the wildlife, especially Linda’s most favorite, hummingbirds.

Linda loved spending time with her family more than anything else, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always made herself available to help in any way she could and showed up when they needed her most. Linda was a skilled seamstress; she was always mending clothes, and she made several of her daughter’s wedding dresses and many of the dresses for their bridesmaids. She also crocheted many blankets and other items for family members and friends. Linda was also a master in the kitchen; her homemade lasagna and spaghetti were always a crowd favorite. She baked cakes – wedding cakes were her specialty – and many other baked goods as well.

Linda is survived by her beloved husband, William “Bill” Brown; six children, Kris (John) Marshbanks of Greenville, SC, Teresa Rowley (Kenny King) of Belding, MI, Darin (Renee) Scriber of Battle Creek, MI, Danon Scriber of Ionia, MI, Traci (Jason) Coe of Belding, MI, and Willow (Mike) Courter of Mancelona; her brother, Mike (Christa) Marcin of Reed City; Michelle (Steve) Pappas of Middleville; twenty-one grandchildren, Casey (Micah), Kira, Myles, Nathan, Nick, Brittany (Steve), Marilyn (George), Carolyn, Scott (Leigha), Mike, Faith (Alex), Sebastian, Magnus, Constance, John, Marie, Kevin, Cassandrra, Skyler (Kaylee), Devin (Amber), Allie (Tim), and Jessica (Jason); many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Eloise (Byers) Marcin; her daughter, Carolynne Rounds; and her sister, Joann (Milton) Denslow.
