BELLAIRE - Leshia Fay Rollins, 61, of Bellaire, passed away at home on Friday, October 20, 2023, after a four-year battle with liver disease. Leshia was born on October 23, 1961 in Trenton, Michigan. She was the daughter of William Admiral Rollins and Violet Sue (Russell) Rollins who preceded her in death.
Surviving Leshia is her wife, Deb Larson from Bellaire, her sister Kathy (Erinn Ryan) Rollins from North Granby, Connecticut; her brother William “Billy” Rollins from Taylor, Michigan; sister-in-laws Dr. Patricia (Marty) Scott of Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania; Paula Larson of Atlanta, Georgia; and Kristina Young of Springfield, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Leshia attended Airport Community Schools in South Rockwood, MI through the tenth grade, eventually earning her GED. She later attended Aircraft Mechanic School and earned her Airframe and Powerplant certification. Taking walks with her dogs, gardening, landscaping, and rock hunting were ways to embrace nature and enjoy the outdoors. One of Leshia’s last wishes was to go on a drive to take in the beautiful fall colors. The day before she passed, Deb took Leshia and her dog Lizzee on her last fall color tour.
Leshia knew how to start a day. Alexa played Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves every morning. She was also passionate for music by Melissa Etheridge and Elvis Presley. She loved the RED WINGS, especially the Stanley Cup winning seasons of 1996-1997 and 1997-1998, even naming her favorite dog Stanley. Dogs and an occasional cat always had a home with Leshia. They provided unconditional love and brought laughter, joy, and happiness to her life. In addition to her pet sitting business, Leshia worked with various cleaning services for the Bellaire Public Library, Bellaire Public Schools, and Bellaire Bed and Breakfast. She also worked at many manufacturing jobs in the area.
As per Leshia’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. Please make a donation to any animal shelter or animal rescue in her honor, in place of sending flowers.
Burial of cremains will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Bellaire at a date yet to be determined.
A special thank you to friends Lynn Meyers, Pam Meyers, and Kay Bay from Canton, Michigan; Diane Bennett and Scott Shaffer (friends and neighbors) and Jennifer Villwock (MESSA Case Manager) for their love, support, and caring during this difficult time.
Arrangements are in the care of the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign her online guestbook www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
