In Loving Memory of Kirk Anthony Hoisington
After a brief illness with pancreatic cancer, Kirk passed away peacefully on October 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, adventure, a fierce devotion and love for his family.
Kirk entered this world on November 28, 1963, to Donald and Margaret (Smith) Hoisington. He was a graduate of Central Montcalm, class of 1982.
Right out of high school, Kirk began working at Master Precision Mold in Greenville, Michigan, where he dedicated 32 years of his life.
Kirk was deeply devoted to his family, hunting, football, and his friends. He wasn’t always the life of the party, but he had a way about him that made you smile. He always had a quick-witted answer to your question. Hunting was his greatest passion, trying to bag the big buck and often he did. He loved football period…everyone knew that in the fall, Kirk was either hunting or watching football.
Kirk met his wife, Cindy, and they were married on August 1, 1987. They bought a house in Sheridan, where Kirk would build and design his first home-a testament to what a great builder he was.
Together, Kirk and Cindy raised three children: Andrew, York, and Lauren. They went on many adventures watching their children participate in football, wrestling, track and field, and volleyball.
After their children graduated, Kirk and Cindy ventured North to Eastport, Michigan, where they bought a mom-and-pop motel and later added six cottages, Torch Bay Inn. Kirk built and designed the cottages himself, and they are beautiful. For the last 14 years, they built their dream-or, as Kirk might have said, a nightmare, depending on the day!
Kirk always had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. They were, and always will be, the light of his life; Ayden, Kendall, Walter, Hadley, Milly, and soon baby Taylor.
Those Left to Cherish His Memory
Kirk is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; his sons, Andrew Hoisington (Katie) and York Hoisington (Lauren Horning); and his daughter, Lauren Taylor (Anthony).
His beloved grandchildren include Ayden Hoisington, Kendall Drake, Walter Taylor, Hadley Taylor, Milly Taylor, and baby Taylor.
He is also survived by his brother, Joel Hoisington (Caryn); his stepfather, Gary Campbell, his stepbrother Dan VanderVlucht; his best friend and partner in crime, Bob McCully (Paige); his niece and nephews, and many aunts and uncles.
Those who Preceded Him in Death
Kirk was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Campbell; his father Donald Hoisington; his brother Eric Hoisington; and his in-laws, John and Laura Chapin, Robert Chapin, Tony Chapin, and Tracy Vlahas.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 25 from 3:30 p.m., in the Ash Building at Montcalm County Fairgrounds, 8784 Peck Road, Greenville, MI 48838. After the Service, everyone is invited to stay for the Lions vs. Packers watch party. If you wish, wear your camo or Lions gear!
Arrangements are under the care of the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
