Kathryn Heeres

Kathryn Heeres, 98 of Ellsworth, died July 9, 2021 at Boulder Park Terrace. She was born December 6, 1922 in Grand Rapids the daughter of Herman and Catherine (Van Til) Fielstra.

Kathryn was a lifelong resident of Ellsworth and graduated from Ellsworth High School.  She was a member of Ellsworth Christian Reformed Church.  Kathryn enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with her family.

On October 4, 1946 she married Cornelius “Casey” Harthorn who preceded her in death in 1992.  Also preceding her in death was her second husband Henry Heeres in 2010, her sister Johanna Barlow, her brother Edward Fielstra and her parents.

Surviving are her children Gordon Harthorn of Eastport, Donna (Harold) DeYoung of Ellsworth, Nelva (John) Anderson of Grand Rapids, Ken (Nancy) Harthorn of Martin, Kay (Tom) Wynsma of Ellsworth, Wayne (Sherri) Harthorn of Charlevoix, 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, sister Bert Ahrens, brother Gerald (Betty) Fielstra, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 13, at 11 a.m. at the Ellsworth Christian Reformed Church with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment will be in Ellsworth Cemetery.  Visitation will also be held Monday, July 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ellsworth Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
