Susan Mailloux

Susan Christine Mailloux, 75, of Charlevoix, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at her home surrounded by loved ones.  She was born on January 23, 1948, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of William and Lois (Morgan) Boddy.

Susie graduated from St. Gregory High School in Detroit, and went on to attend Virginia Farrell Beauty School in Southfield.  She began a family in the Detroit area and they eventually moved to Charlevoix permanently in 1976.  She was the office manager at Site Planning and Development for many years before retiring in 2015. 

Susie loved spending time with and supporting her grandchildren more than anything else in the world; she seldom missed any of their events.  She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, sewing, and was a masterful baker & cook.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for many years as well.

Susan is survived by three children, Michelle Mailloux (Gregg Whitley) of Charlevoix, Denis Mailloux of Charlevoix, and Christopher (Traci) Mailloux of Charlevoix; six grandchildren, Boddy Whitley, Connor Mailloux, Aiden Mailloux, Clara Mailloux, Kaylyn Mailloux, and Madeleine Mailloux; and many other family members & loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her life partner of over 30 years, Gene LoVasco; her infant son, James Mailloux; her sister, Janet Boddy; her brother, Michael Boddy; and her parents.

A memorial mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Charlevoix.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14 at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
