Julia Degiuli

Julia DeGiuli, our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother who was know to many as "Grandma DeGiuli", passed away, Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire at the age of 86 due to congestive heart failure. Julia was born July 2nd, 1920 in Farrell, PA to Giuseppe and Lucy (Broli) Zambelli and was the youngest female of eight children. Julia spent the early part of her life growing up in western Pennsylvania. In 1937 she met Julius DeGiuli and they married on April 15th, 1939. They settled in Lincoln Park, MI. Julia was employed at Lincoln Park Screw Products before going to work for Elmer's Floral. 1943 with her husband away at war, Julia gave birth to their only child, Richard DeGiuli. Around 1950 Julius and Julie began coming to Bellaire for vacations and stayed at the Maples Resort for many years. In 1957 they purchased property of their own north of Bellaire to share with their family and friends and began to build their home. When Julius retired in 1976 they moved permanently to Bellaire. On August 4th, 1979 Julia lost the love of her life. The following years Julia remained the strong willed, energetic woman she was. She took care of her son and two grandsons Phillip and Timothy, she was frequently seen working at the Bellaire Party Store which her son owned and also was a very active member of St. Luke's Church in Bellaire. Julia was known to all as a very sweet, kind, caring, and especially hard working woman. She loved to cook and work in her garden, which was always bursting with flowers. Julia was probably best known for always trying to help people in anyway she possibly could and would go to great lengths to show how much she cared about everyone. Julia touched many people with her kindness and caring nature. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her and especially by her family who for many years she cared for and nurtured. Julia was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, sisters Judith, Francis, Orsuline, Ermina, and Louisa and her brothers Frank, Carly and Bill and some nieces and nephews.
