Judith Fay Mann

It is with great sadness to share the loss of our Mom, Judith Fay Mann, who died unexpectedly on  August 8, 2026. Please enjoy her last words...

Everyone should write their own obituary. Take time to remember family, friends, travels, and events. I've definitely enjoyed my journey.

Leonard and Sadie (Howard) Lick were tickled pink when I arrived on August 25, 1939. The only girl with 3 brothers. I always felt special and perhaps slightly spoiled.

The 1940's were hard times for some but farm life kept us busy and well supplied with fresh food in season and a well stocked cellar for winter. I thank Mom and Dad for all the planting, growing, and preserving.

I was a five year member of the 4-H club and attended the Lutheran Church.

After Graduating from East Jordan High School in 1957, I married Ed Mann - a motorcycle riding plumber from Charlevoix. Two children - Eddie and Tami completed our family.

We built our own home with a little help from friends and family and settled in for over 56 years.

I began working for Glen's Market when the Charlevoix Store opened in 1978. I enjoyed my 18+ years with them, met many people and made lasting friendships.

We traveled, mostly by motorcycle, across Canada and the United States including Alaska and several flights to Hawaii. I found my favorite spot is my own backyard.

I have many great memories - spending our 50th anniversary in Vegas with my family. Having my grandson Nic for summer visits, a bus trip to Chicago with my daughter and many camping trips and projects with my husband. Fun times playing Yahtzee and scrabble and my daily walks in the neighborhood. Having a cold beer with my son.

I used to think of my life as childhood, married with children, and retirement, now I need to add, widow.

Ed and I were married almost 57 years. I want to express my forever gratitude to Eddie and Tami for their love and support during their Dad's illness. To Eddie's "I'll be right there" to Tami's "I'll stay as long as you need me" any time I called for help.

When I die I hope someone can say, "I just saw her out walking, yesterday".

Surviving is her son, Edwin M. (Julie) Mann, daughter, Tami J. (Tim) Bur, grandson, Nicholas (Kristin) Mann, 3 great-grandchildren, Connor, Karlie, and Jace.

Preceding Judith in death are her grandparents, Emil and Olga (Frederick) Lick, Martin and Mary (Eldridge) Howard, parents, Leonard and Sadie Lick, three brothers Leonard Jr., Robert, and Douglas (Nancy).

In lieu of flowers or cards please feel free to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Judith Mann's name. stjude.org/donatetoday
