Joseph Stanish

Joseph Peter Stanish, 87, of Bellaire, MI, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Medilodge of GTC. He was born on March 14, 1939, in Detroit, the son of Joseph and Helen (Dostert) Stanish.

After graduating from Servite High School in Detroit, Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy serving from December 1958 until 1962. He participated in the Cuban Missile Blockade in October of 1962.

In March of 1962, in Quebec, Canada, Joe married Colette Proulx. They lived in Detroit for a number of years before moving to Bellaire in 1975. Joe retired from MichCon after 29 years. He enjoyed reading and working with electronics. He was also a longtime member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Bellaire.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 64 years, Colette Stanish; children, John Stanish, Sylvie (Scott) Lepird, Catherine (Richard) Collins, Julie (Richard) Newell, Daniel (Tracy) Stanish, and Robert (Trish) Stanish; grandchildren, Jack (Christine) Lepird, Zachary (Shelby) Lepird, Hannah (Jeromy) Gardner, Richard Jr. and Tristan Collins, Ryan and Sara Newell, Miranda, Mason, and Marcus Stanish; great-grandchildren, Diane and Ella Lepird, and Victoria and Autumn; and grandchildren, Gideon, Elena, and Cameron.

There are no services planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Antrim County Commission on Aging.
