Joan Robinson

Joan Opal Robinson passed away April 30th, 2025 at home in Charlevoix, Michigan.  Joan was born in Traverse City Michigan, October 14th, 1941 to John W. Erickson and Ruth C Manville Erickson.

Joan started her career in nursing at Henry Ford Nursing School. She then worked in oncology at Henry Ford Hospital and attended Wayne State University. In 1966, she married David at Traverse City Congregational Church. In 1978, David and Joan moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, their home for more than 20 years. Later, Joan received a Master's Degree in nursing management from the University of Michigan. She went on to be the Clinical Director of Nursing at the University of Michigan Medical Center for 20 years.

After retirement, David and Joan moved to Charlevoix, where they have lived for more than 20 years.  Joan has enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling the world with her husband, David. She was active at the Charlevoix Community Pool, the Charlevoix Congregational Church, and the Charlevoix Public Library. She also enjoyed playing Mahjong with her friends and going to the beach when her grandson Alex visited.

Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, David Robinson; her brother, Ron (Phyllis) Erickson; son, Eric (Claire) Robinson; and grandson, Alex Robinson. She was preceded in death by her brother Steve Erickson, sister Linda Purcell, and brother Fred Erickson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the 1st Congregational United Church of Christ in Charlevoix with Pastor Toby Jones officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Joan would like donations made to the Charlevoix Community Pool or the Charlevoix District Library.
