Jeffrey Wayne Emery (Jeff), 72, passed away at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Bellaire, Michigan on April 3, 2026. He was known as an independent soul with a love nature and a small community of good friends. His helping hand, mischievous smile, and nervous frown will be greatly missed. Jeff was born May 6, 1953, at Meadowbrook Hospital in Bellaire, Michigan. He was the first of five children born to Paul and Betty Emery. He graduated high school from Union Bible Seminary and Academy of Westfield, Indiana in 1972. Jeff entered the Army immediately following high school graduation, served four years, and attained the rank of Sergeant. After leaving the Army, he worked for Sommer Metal Craft as foreman of a painting plant in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jeff spent the second half of his life back in Michigan, settling on Clam Lake, caring for his parents, and working for an automotive parts plant in Traverse City, Michigan. Jeff spoke often of his Canadian fishing expeditions with cousins, friends, and his Uncle Steve, and generally, had great advice on where to find the giant perch and trout in the chain of lakes, including his resident Clam Lake. He was known for his hospitality to friends and providing spicy hot pizza to visiting sportsmen to top off those cold days of hunting and ice fishing adventures.
Jeff was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his brother, Paul David Emery.
He is survived by one brother, Stephen (Jeanine) Emery of Bellaire, Michigan, two sisters, Joy (Robert) Hartman of Ashville, North Carolina and Marion Amber (Stephen) George of Palmer, Alaska, and his sister-in-law, Phyliss Emery, along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
Though Jeff was unable to vocalize it due to his stroke, we are confident that he had made his peace with God.
At Jeff's request, he will be cremated and there will be no funeral services. There will be a memorial service at the graveside on June 13, 2026, at 11 A.M. at Fairview Cemetery, Custer Township, Michigan. Pastor Kim Hough will officiate.
Arrangements are in the care of the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
