Jeanne E. Bope,  84, of Kewadin, passed away on September 13, 2025.

   She was born on February 24, 1941, in Dayton, OH, the daughter of Urban and Clara (Mathis) Tangeman.

   Jeanne earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton then went on to earn her Master’s degree from the University of Iowa.   She  was employed with Community Mental Health in Grand Traverse County for many years.   Prior to that, she worked as a medical social worker at the Bixby Hopsital in Adrian.

    She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elk Rapids and enjoyed gardening as well as playing cards with her friends.

   Surviving are a daughter Jennifer (Yen) Lan of Seattle, WA, a brother Ed (Bev) Tangeman and a sister Virginia Tangeman both of Dayton, OH as well as 2 grandsons, Jack and Evan Lan.

   Preceding her in death were her husband Bob Bope, sister Dorothy Tangeman, brother Frederick Tangeman as well as her parents.

   Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elk Rapids.

   Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.

   Arrangements are in the care of the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
